The City of Colorado Springs is ready to welcome a Senior Administrative Assistant to the Airport Operations team! In this role, you will perform a variety of clerical duties in support of Airport Operations, including processing regulatory and security related background checks and issuing airport identification badges.

Responsibilities

Review and process the Airport identification badge/access media and fingerprint applications
Protect the privacy and security of personal information present during badging application process
Interpret TSA (Transportation Security Administration) and FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) regulations to ensure proper authorization and identification of Airport users
Assess situations quickly, objectively, and determine the proper course of action
Determine appropriate access level and issue correct level identifications in accordance with the TSA approved Airport Security Plan
Conduct security training and airfield driving classes for airport tenants, employees, and contractors ensuring compliance with TSA and FAA guidelines; incorporate new TSA and FAA guidelines into class curriculum
Ensure contractors meet proper insurance levels for accessing the Airport operations area
Ensure ground transportation providers meet requirements established by the PUC (Public Utilities Commission) and the Airport
Support other Airport Operation departments by performing assistant duties for irregular and emergency operations such as fire watches, escorts, and other duties deemed necessary for security and safety

Required

Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade (high school diploma or GED)
Four years of professional, full-time airport operations, airport security, airport safety, or homeland security experience or in a related field
Microsoft Office Suite Programs with a strong understanding of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
Organization methods with a strong dedication to details
Comprehensive knowledge of both federal and state laws
Maintain a high level of confidentiality
Effectively communicate complex issues and proactively offers alternative solutions, navigating challenging situations with tact and poise across all internal and external customer levels
Complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision and research
Manage multiple priorities while working under tight deadlines
Work with frequent interruptions and changes in priority
Establish and maintain good working relationships with other City employees and the public
Provide exceptional customer service to internal departments and external contacts
Interpret, explain, and apply pertinent Airport policies and procedures to include federal and state laws and regulations
Stay informed of airport operational, safety, and security issues
Provide timely responses to a variety of administrative inquiries
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Pass (or have already passed) a fingerprint-based criminal history records check as required by the Transportation Security Administration

Preferred

College level coursework in Airport operations
One year experience in Airport operations, specifically experience with software used to maintain Airport access control
Experience working with regulatory guidelines of local and federal governing entities
Experience working with and maintaining confidential documents and information
Knowledge in the areas of criminal history record checks and management
Ability to demonstrate proficient experience with credentialing and/or identification software applications and advanced MS Office (Excel) level
