Boston Government Services (BGS) is seeking a Shift Technical Advisor to support our client at the Y12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, TN. The role involves providing technical expertise to ensure safe operations and evaluating the impact of proposed changes on facility safety.

Responsibilities

Serving as primary support team member for the Operations Manager and Shift Manager to ensure daily operations are safe, effective, and performed in accordance with approved procedures
Interfacing with support organizations to understand planned operations within the facility and ensure activities are in compliance with facility safety basis authorized work
Performing troubleshooting and improvement activities for emerging issues within the operations management scope of responsibility to resolve issues and improve effectiveness in implementation of compliance requirements
Serving in a project management role as needed for coordination of large, cross-cutting activities within the facility that involve multiple interfaces that cross organizational lines
Presenting technical briefings or presentations, as required, that describe and explain approved facility operations and compliance implementation methods
Evaluating proposed modifications or changes against the approved Documented Safety Analysis via the Unreviewed Safety Question
Determining processes to ensure changes are within the scope and methods appropriate for the facility
Providing on-call coverage for assigned weekends based upon a rotation with others in the group; on-call is as needed, which may or may not require weekend work for the assigned weekend
Other duties as assigned

Qualification

Nuclear experienceEngineering degreeTechnical expertiseProject managementHuman Reliability Program Certification

Required

BA/BS Degree plus 15-20 years of direct experience required or an MA or MS with 14-18 years of experience
Must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e., Baccalaureate in engineering or related scientific major 2 years job-related, and 1-year nuclear experience; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative)
Must be a U.S. citizen
Successful drug screening
Requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status
Requires the ability to obtain a Human Reliability Program (HRP) Certification
