Director of Communications
The New York State Center for Recruitment & Public Service is seeking a Director of Communications for the NYS Gaming Commission. The role involves overseeing communications, managing public information staff, and ensuring consistent messaging across various platforms while engaging with media and stakeholders.
Government Administration
Responsibilities
Writing, editing, and issuing communications, including press releases, web and social media content, reports, datasets, etc. regarding Commission initiatives
Assisting in website maintenance and publishing updates, including weekly/monthly revenue reports
Supervising Public Information Office staff
Engaging industry media and stakeholders regarding Commission initiatives and actions
Fielding, researching, and responding to media and public inquiries
Organizing and managing public events and meetings
Ensuring accurate and consistent messaging in all communications
Researching and distributing articles, reports, studies to agency leadership and staff
Collaborating with Executive Chamber and other executive agencies
Ensuring timely assembly and distribution of relevant news articles to appropriate staff
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree and four years of relevant experience
Substitutions: four years of specialized experience or associate's degree and two years of specialized experience may substitute for bachelor's degree; J.D. or master's degree may substitute for one year of specialized experience; Ph.D. may substitute for two years of specialized experience
Degree and/or college credit must have been awarded by a regionally accredited college or university or one recognized by the NYS Education Department as following acceptable educational practices
If your degree and/or college credit was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States and its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency
