Responsibilities
Own the daily management of the financial systems, which include oversight of accounting, assets, liabilities, equity, inventory, fixed assets, opex, expense reimbursement, and reporting
Review the work of the Accounting team, ensure reconciliations are properly completed, and work to close monthly financials in a timely manner
Create the year-end financials, including footnotes
Lead external audits and other external reporting requests
Evaluate accounting system effectiveness, make recommendations, and work with IT to implement solutions
Improve internal controls by identifying issues and implementing solutions
Lead the oversight and maintenance of the Company's banking structure, payment process, and credit card program
Continual review of accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Qualification
Required
CPA License Required
eCommerce and/or Retail industry experience
5+ years experience in a Director role or previous experience as a Controller
Ability to lead, manage, and grow a high-performing team
Previous public accounting experience, preferably for a Big 4 or large national accounting firm
Superior quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong judgment, planning, and organizational skills
Strong written skills - ability to write explanations to financial statements, footnotes, and audit memos
Advanced Excel knowledge
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
Preferred
MBA preferred
Prior experience at a PE backed company
ERP and AP Automation implementation experience
Experience moving manual processes to automated processes
Prior experience in JD Edwards
Motorcycle ownership/riding experience (not required)
