Responsibilities
Oversees daily transit operations, coordinating staff, vendors, and resources to deliver reliable service while meeting all federal, state, and local requirements
Supervise teams, set schedules, monitor performance, and provide hands-on guidance to ensure work is completed accurately and on time
Oversee vehicle and equipment maintenance, ensure required inspections and safety programs are up to date, analyze trends to reduce accidents and costs, and lead safety communications and campaigns
Manage the FTA drug and alcohol program, coordinate testing, maintain records, and ensure accurate DAMIS reporting
Support planning and accountability through grant compliance, budgeting assistance, vehicle specifications, and timely reporting to local, state, and federal agencies
Collaborate with County departments, partner agencies, and community groups, represent transit on committees and boards, and provide exceptional customer service through effective problem-solving and communication
Provide on-call support for incidents and ride checks as required
Qualification
Required
Associates degree
Three (3) years of experience in transit safety control systems
Possess and maintain CPR and First Aid certifications within 90 days of position assignment
Class “C” with Passenger (P) endorsement Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of position assignment
Knowledge of departmental policies, plans, and procedures
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other job-related software
Understanding of modern governmental office practices, administrative support techniques, and office equipment
Familiarity with computer operations, dispatching, route development, vehicle maintenance, and radio communications
Knowledge of Florida Administrative Code 14-90 regarding transit operating safety and 427 FS related to Transportation Disadvantaged services
Knowledge of National Transit Database (NTD) reporting requirements and associated data management
Strong communication skills
Sound judgment, maturity, patience, and a demonstrated concern for elderly and disabled populations
Ability to plan and schedule work for drivers and vehicles
Ability to prioritize and organize tasks
Ability to maintain accurate records and reports
Ability to meet deadlines
Ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and county rules and regulations
Ability to prepare effective correspondence and reports
Ability to author procedure manuals
Ability to perform routine administrative functions independently
Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills
Ability to provide guidance and customer assistance through multiple communication channels
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Ability to operate a motor vehicle
Ability to use computers for data entry, word processing, and accounting purposes
