Financial Controller
Survival Systems Staffing is seeking an experienced Controller with a strong manufacturing background in the aerospace and defense industry. This hands-on role involves driving financial performance through rigorous cost control, inventory management, and strategic budget oversight.

Responsibilities
Oversee all accounting operations, financial reporting, and month-end/year-end close processes
Ensure compliance with FAR/DFARS regulations and government contract accounting standards
Manage financial aspects of Long Term Agreements (LTAs) including pricing, escalation clauses, and contract modifications
Lead annual budgeting process and provide variance analysis with actionable insights
Direct cost center management across manufacturing operations, analyzing performance against budget
Identify and implement cost reduction initiatives to lower overall operational expenses
Monitor and analyze labor variances, investigating root causes and implementing corrective actions
Develop and maintain standard costing systems for products and manufacturing processes
Partner with operations to improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce waste
Provide hands-on oversight of inventory management, cycle counts, and reconciliation processes
Ensure accurate inventory valuation and implement controls to minimize obsolescence and shrinkage
Work closely with supply chain and production teams to optimize inventory levels and turns
Lead physical inventory counts and resolve discrepancies
Develop, monitor, and control departmental budgets across the organization
Partner with department heads to forecast expenses and track performance to plan
Provide financial guidance and support to operations leaders on budget decisions
Manage and develop accounting team members
Foster cross-functional collaboration between finance, operations, and program management
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CMA preferred
7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience with at least 3 years in a Controller or senior financial management role
Strong aerospace and/or defense manufacturing background required
Proven experience with Long Term Agreements and government contract accounting
Deep understanding of cost accounting principles in a manufacturing environment
Demonstrated success in cost reduction and operational improvement initiatives
Hands-on experience with inventory management and controls
Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar)
Advanced Excel skills and financial modeling capabilities
Preferred
Experience with AS9100 or ISO quality management systems
Knowledge of export control regulations (ITAR/EAR)
Familiarity with government contract types (FFP, T&M, Cost Plus)
Experience with earned value management systems (EVMS)
