Director, Employee Assistance Program
Florida State University (FSU) is seeking a strategic and compassionate leader to serve as Director of the Employee Assistance Program. This role is dedicated to strengthening the wellbeing, readiness, and resilience of the FSU workforce through various support services for employees. Responsibilities include guiding the EAP program, championing wellbeing, and developing policies and procedures to ensure program quality.

Guide a multifaceted program that provides professional assessment, short-term counseling, referrals, crisis response, and organizational support to employees across the university and to other entities served by the EAP
Champion wellbeing by shaping a healthier work environment through thoughtful outreach, expert consultation, and responsive services that help individuals and teams navigate challenges impacting their personal wellbeing and job performance
Strengthen organizational readiness by delivering critical incident response, participate in institutional safety teams, and help units across campus prepare for and respond to complex employee-related situations
Develop policies, procedures, and strategic initiatives that advance the EAP’s mission, ensure program quality, and maintain alignment with current professional practices and trends
Serve as a confidential resource and advisor to employees, managers, and administrators seeking guidance on matters affecting workplace wellbeing
Provide strategic direction and operational leadership for EAP services, including assessment, short-term counseling, referrals, follow-up, case management, training, and critical incident response
Consult with faculty, staff, and administrators on matters affecting employee wellbeing and job performance
Supervise professional staff and interns; manage program budgets and expenditures
Participate on institutional committees that address employee safety and behavioral concern (e.g., Threat Assessment Team, Special Situation Response Team)
Lead development of policies, procedures, and program improvements that support EAP excellence and long-term growth
Oversee related programs such as the Emergency Loan Fund and Alternative Dispute Resolution/Mediation initiatives
Qualification
Required
Master's degree in Mental Health or related field
Minimum of five years of experience providing EAP services, including assessment, short-term counseling, referrals, and critical incident response
Minimum of three years of progressive leadership experience within an EAP or closely related field
Active, unrestricted clinical license required (e.g., LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, Psychologist) enabling independent practice in Florida
Preferred
Experience providing EAP services in a higher-education setting
Background in substance abuse counseling, mediation, and crisis intervention
