Estimating Data Analyst
Helm Group is seeking an Estimating Data Analyst to support their mechanical estimating team by collecting, analyzing, and maintaining cost, labor, and production data for mechanical construction bids. The role involves transforming raw data into insights and recommendations to improve accuracy and profitability across departments.
Responsibilities
Interface and communicate with estimators, project managers, accounting, and project teams
Build dashboard for estimating mechanical and plumbing systems based on estimating software outputs
Collect, organize, and maintain historical cost, labor, and material data for budgeting of mechanical construction projects
Review customer bid delivery requirements and provide estimating accounting to match
Analyze labor productivity, equipment costs, material pricing, and subcontractor data
Assist with conceptual, budgetary, and detailed mechanical construction estimates
Compare estimated versus actual project costs and identify variances
Prepare reports and dashboards to support estimating reviews and bid strategies
Support forecasting of labor and material cost impacts on future projects
Assist in improving estimating workflows through standardization and data accuracy
Collaborate with project management and accounting to capture actual project cost data
Maintain estimating-related documentation as required
Provide support and feedback to estimating team members
Additional assignments per Supervisor’s direction
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
0–3 years of experience in construction estimating, cost analysis, or data analysis
Strong working knowledge of Python and Microsoft applications; SQL, Access, & Excel required
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment
Willingness to learn estimating software and construction workflows
Preferred
Experience with Power BI/Tableau or data visualization tools
