Risk Analyst

Responsibilities

Serve as day-to-day resource for insurance-related questions by partnering with internal teams, insurance brokers, and carriers
Promote awareness of Portillo’s Risk Management programs and reinforce a shared commitment to safety and compliance
Recognize team contributions and share wins to support a culture of accountability, safety, risk awareness, and continuous improvement
Communicate clearly and thoughtfully by listening, sharing information with purpose, and being open to diverse perspectives
Build strong relationships by establishing trust, sharing ideas, and collaborating to accomplish team goals
Collect, maintain, and analyze exposure, incident, and claim data to support insurance renewals, trend analysis, and loss mitigation strategies
Prepare, review, and analyze risk management reporting, including invoicing, incident trends, claim frequency and severity, and key cost drivers
Maintain accurate and up-to-date risk management documentation to support compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements
Manage tracking tools, dashboards, and reporting mechanisms to measure program effectiveness and progress
Stay current on industry trends, best practices, and changes in insurance laws and regulations relevant to the restaurant industry
Support effective risk transfer and mitigation strategies by reviewing contract insurance requirements and confirming alignment with Portillo’s insurance programs
Support insurance renewal processes by gathering underwriting information, participating in renewal strategy discussions, and coordinating with brokers and insurers
Conduct restaurant site inspections, document findings, track corrective actions, and report completion status
Support the development of loss control and loss reduction initiatives aimed at reducing the frequency and severity of incidents across the organization
Maintain and support Risk Management technology systems, including providing system administrator support as needed
Support change initiatives by helping implement new processes, documenting standard operating procedures, and communicating updates that align with Portillo’s vision and values
Create accountability by holding self and others responsible for performance, follow-through, and adherence to Portillo’s standards

Required

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Risk Management or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience
3 – 7 years of relevant experience in Risk Management, insurance, or brokerage environments
Working knowledge of commercial lines insurance programs and risk management/risk mitigation principles
Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate data, identify trends, and surface meaningful insights
Detail‑oriented with a high level of accuracy and follow-through
Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at the Manager and Director level
Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements impacting multi-unit operations, including safety, insurance, and risk reporting
Experience partnering with insurance brokers, carriers, or third-party vendors to support risk management programs
Comfortable working independently while collaborating cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships across diverse teams
Excellent project management, reporting, and presentation skills
Passion for process improvement and continuous enhancement of tools and practices
Demonstrated ability to challenge the status quo thoughtfully, and escalate risks or issues when appropriate
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Products, including Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred

Experience supporting commercial insurance programs in a corporate or multi-unit organization
Experience in supporting Environmental Health and Safety or business resiliency programs
Experience reviewing contract insurance requirements and coverage provisions
Experience working with Risk Management Information Systems (RMIS) and related reporting tools
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Products, including Power BI, Power Automate, and Microsoft Forms
Intellectual curiosity with the ability to think both strategically and tactically
Bilingual in English and Spanish
Insurance or Risk Management designations/certificates/credentials are preferred (e.g., CRM, ARM, CPCU)
Experience supporting multi-unit operations, preferably within the restaurant, hospitality, or retail environments
Experience supporting a multi-state employer, with familiarity in Illinois strongly preferred
