Basin Electric Power Cooperative is seeking a Mechanical Technician to service and perform mechanical repairs to plant equipment. The role involves maintaining and repairing all plant equipment, performing preventative maintenance, and contributing to overall plant safety.

Responsibilities

Perform all duties in a safe and efficient manner in compliance with safe work procedures

Contribute to overall plant safety by adhering to safety standards, participating in safety training, energy verification, and by adhering to all plant regulations and procedures

Maintain and repair all plant equipment and ensure all tools and equipment are in good working condition

Perform preventative, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and trouble shoot to solve station mechanical and technical problems

Perform ground maintenance (mowing, watering, removing snow), painting and cleaning company property

Maintain accurate records and reports of all pertinent information on plant equipment

Assist with developing preventive maintenance procedures and guidelines for repairing and maintaining plant equipment

Assist with preparing equipment for major maintenance activities such as draining and installing fluids

Assist Warehouse with preparing equipment for shipping; ship and receive materials

Perform other duties as assigned

Qualification

Industrial mechanicsMachine shop toolsPreventive maintenanceTroubleshootingEffective communication

Required

Completion of a 2-year certificate and 1 year of experience as an industrial mechanic or related; or

A DOL approved apprentice program in industrial mechanics or an associated trade; and 1 year experience as an industrial mechanic or related; or

A high school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED) and 3 years' experience as an industrial mechanic or related

A valid driver's license

Knowledge of industrial mechanical equipment and machine shop tools and equipment

This position is required to repair equipment under pressure due to time constraints (such as outages, etc.)

Effective written and verbal communication skills
