Responsibilities

Provide senior-level chemical engineering support for nuclear and process chemical facilities
Perform nuclear or process chemical hydrogen diffusion evaluations and calculations for facilities with nuclear material at risk
Lead and support development, review, and approval of technical engineering calculations and evaluations
Support chemical process safety, design reviews, operational troubleshooting, and corrective actions
Communicate engineering findings and recommendations to SRNS management, project teams, DOE customers, and State/Federal regulators
Support facility operations, maintenance, startup, and project execution activities
Perform field walkdowns to evaluate system conditions and engineering work execution
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across multi-disciplinary teams
Ensure compliance with DOE Orders, SRNS procedures, and Conduct of Engineering requirements

Required

Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering with 20 years of direct engineering experience
Master's degree with 17 years of experience
PhD in Chemical Engineering (preferred) with 15 years experience
Minimum fifteen (15) years of direct engineering experience in the nuclear or process chemical industry
Demonstrated capability to perform nuclear or process chemical hydrogen diffusion evaluations and calculations
Strong experience producing clearly written, well-organized engineering documents
Proven ability to communicate effectively with management, project teams, DOE customers, and State/Federal regulators
Experience supporting regulated nuclear or hazardous chemical facilities
Ability to perform on-site field walkdowns, including walking long distances, climbing ladders, navigating uneven terrain, and wearing required PPE
Ability to produce detailed technical documentation and reports
Ability to work in a highly regulated nuclear facility environment
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” Security Clearance
Active clearance not required to start

Preferred

Ability to perform weekly field walkdowns, including construction areas with uneven surfaces, ladder climbing, and use of protective equipment
Working knowledge of SRNS E7 Manual – Conduct of Engineering
Experience with SmartPlant Work Management System
Prior DOE, SRNS, or Savannah River Site experience
