Responsibilities

The MRO Value Engineering group owns the effort to eliminate rework in the full repair network. This role is responsible for solving rework on an individual component, utilizing "best known way" to move quickly and make a sustainable impact. Each engineer will utilize FLIGHT DECK tools, including PSRs and action plans to systematically solve the rework issues
Increasing the standardization of machining, including creation of a “playbook” for equipment selection, expanding the use of common zero-point fixtures and tooling, and increasing the usage of on-machine probing
Creating and facilitating training for network SPOs in machining, including non-conventional machining (EDM/Laser) and traditional machining. Tooling, fixturing, and programming
Executes special process auditing of GE MRO network based on the GE Aerospace 259.08 quality requirements. The team will participate in monthly audits around our global component repair network and ensure corrective actions are read across to the full network
Gaining awareness in latest machining technical developments, including offline programing, EDM/laser, and new equipment, and being one the primary on-the-ground focal to support implementation in the network
Enabling flow lines in the ATMRO network, based on the “playbook” to reduce TAT
Ensure that products and services perform according to quality standards and that manufacturing processes are capable and qualified
Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
Use judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Use technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions
Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field
Communicate with and provide recommendations to management on technical, organizational, resource and personnel issues
Collaborate effectively in a diverse, global, distributed work environment

Required

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, or at least 8 years of experience in an Aerospace manufacturing environment
At least 6 years of experience in machining Aerospace hardware, preferably in aircraft engine component repair
Knowledge of overhaul and component repair processes
Ability to program CNC machining centers
Fluent in English, written and verbal
Ability to travel 50% to international destinations, including but not limited to: USA, Brazil, United Kingdom, Hungary, Poland, Italy, Malaysia, Singapore, and Taiwan

Preferred

Experience with EDM and Laser Machining
Highly motivated, self-starting, and passionate
Experience in GE Aerospace MRO Facility
Demonstrated team leadership, collaboration, and facilitation skills
Strong technical communication skills and willingness to continually improve communication and influencing skills in diverse and distributed work environments
Experience in auditing
Flexible and friendly approach to working in teams
Knowledge of Aviation Supply chain and quality practices
Keen listener and innate drive to succeed
