NEOGOV is seeking a Social Service Supervisor for the Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services, focusing on Wellbeing/Permanency, Adoption, Licensure, and Safety Units. Responsibilities

Provides supervision, direction, guidance, and feedback to Social Service Specialist (Investigation Specialist)
Serve as mentor, trainer, and coach to staff
Exercises good judgment in practice as demonstrated through the adherence of agency policy and procedures and federal/state guidelines to support decision making
Ensures timely screening, assignment, and completion of investigations through the use of data and structured weekly staffings with assigned staff
Reviews and approves investigations timely, including ensuring thorough documentation of supporting information
Ensure safety of youth involved in safety plans
Assess each investigation against established investigative procedures including interviews with victims, perpetrators and/or staff, assess the need for follow up and appropriate referrals for CAC or other collaborative services/partnerships
Coordinate with appropriate LE
Serves as supervisor on-call after hours (including weekends and holidays) as scheduled
Set team goals that promotes teamwork, accountability, and quality outcomes
Manage caseloads using available data
Maintain up to date outlook calendar
Maintain up to date required training (CEU’s if licensed)
Positively supports initiatives and program requests set forth by the agency
Conducts ongoing safety and risk assessments that identify and address safety concerns throughout the life of the case
Gather demographic information on child and family to conduct ongoing diligent search efforts to locate the child/family when unable to make contact and as needed to achieve timely permanency
Partners with child(ren) and parents in the development and utilization of comprehensive assessments and service plans
Collaborates with community partners to create systems of support for children and families
Ensures that frequency and quality of visits with children and families are adequate to ensure safety, permanency, and well-being
Identifies the physical, educational, and mental/behavioral health needs of children, parents, and foster parents and ensures identified needs were effectively addressed through collaboration with internal and external supports
Establishes permanency goals for the child(ren) through coordination with local youth court
Ensures foster care placements and/or living situations are stable and in the best interests of the child(ren) and are consistent with achieving established permanency
Makes concerted efforts to achieve permanency for children in a timely manner and consistent with regulations contained in the Adoptions and Safe Families Act
Ensures that siblings in foster care are placed together unless a separation is necessary to meet the needs of one of the siblings
Documents case management activities within time frames established by policy
Prepare professional court reports and provide professional recommendations in court proceedings
Utilizes privately owned vehicle for work-related travel and duties (including transportation of children)
Routinely serves on after-hours on-call duty for foster care and in-home service needs

Preferred

Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 years of experience, and 1-3 years of supervisory experience
Appointing authority may require a Master's Degree and/or social worker's license
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in social work, social services, psychology, educational psychology, sociology, nursing, criminal justice, counseling, marriage and family therapy, family studies, or a related field
Will also require Social Work License in state of Mississippi for the Supervisor position
