Responsibilities

Leads and supervises the daily performance of assigned Facilities Engineering staff
Assigns preventative maintenance and urgent, corrective, and routine repairs on assigned equipment or assigned area
Ensures all work performed by assigned staff is completed in a timely manner and meets quality guidelines
Assists in maintaining an effective organization, budget development, planning, training of personnel in their general and specific duties, safety, and effective management
Oversees the requisitioned, corrective, emergency and preventative maintenance of buildings, equipment and off-site facilities associated within the assigned area
Performs requisitioned, corrective, emergency and preventative maintenance of assigned systems and building structures as required
Responsible for inspecting, calibrating, adjusting, lubricating and repairing or replacing components as necessary
Maintains records of preventative maintenance programs
Reports daily to the Engineering Manager as to the general condition of assigned facilities and the general progress of work being accomplished
Interprets hospital policies to subordinates and enforces safety regulations
Reviews maintenance requests and schedules work tasks for Engineering staff, including requisitioned, scheduled preventative maintenance, and corrective emergency maintenance
Ensures that work sites are left orderly and that tools are returned to their proper area
Makes periodic inspections, noting general condition and keeps the Manager informed as to the needs and/or changes required to keep the hospital in safe, well-maintained condition
Maintains assigned records to ensure compliance with state, federal, and Joint Commission regulations
Orders selected stock items and supplies equipment parts so as to maintain maximum efficiency levels at all times according to established procedures
Coordinates the training of personnel in the operation and repair of equipment and facility(s)
Assumes responsibilities for the Engineering Department in the event of absence, illness or vacation of the Engineering Manager
Provides direction to assigned personnel
Responds to emergency calls and assist qualified technicians and other trained personnel on gas Med Gas/Vacuum leaks, Power outages, HVAC outages, Plumbing, fire response, etc
Participates in emergency Call-Back plan
Monitors completion of assigned preventative maintenance tasks, and daily work requests
Works with assigned staff to guide them to achieve personal and department goals
Assists in matters of performance reviews and discipline
Maintains attendance and productivity records
Performs other duties as assigned

Required

Post high school education up to 18 months. Technical College or Certificate Program
Three (3) years leadership and general maintenance experience of buildings and/or equipment
If assigned supervision of Electrical trade, a minimum of a journeyman's license is preferred
A valid driver's license; an acceptable motor vehicle record, as defined by the Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Chart; and proof of auto insurance
Knowledge of maintenance related to type of staff assigned under supervision
Basic computer skills including word processing and spreadsheets
Knowledge of office equipment (fax/copier)
Mathematical skills
Ability to design, maintain and work in accordance with National and City Codes and other safety codes, which apply to hospitals
Knowledge of Building Automation Systems

Preferred

A minimum of a journeyman's license is preferred if assigned supervision of Electrical trade
