Responsibilities
Applies a systematic approach including engineering principles such as lean manufacturing to ensure equipment is monitored, issues are diagnosed adequately, repairs and preventive maintenance on machines and equipment are performed according to an established schedule
Implements continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the overall efficiency and reduction of waste in the production process
Supervises a team that interprets work orders and specifications to determine if machines and equipment require replacement, repair, or general maintenance
Investigate, identify, and resolve operational constraints in the process while eliminating and minimizing bottlenecks to prevent operational downtime
Analyzes daily data for department processes and equipment to ensure operations are performed consistently
Ensures the operations team performs tasks and responsibilities according to the established standard operating procedures and checklists
Ensures the department is prepared and set up daily for maximum efficiencies
Demonstrates a clear understanding of key performance indicators and their impact on operations
Monitor work schedules to ensure manning is at the established standard to meet the daily schedule attainment
Ensures accurate record of staffing and time worked
Supervise all employees, monitoring work performance, directing work, ensuring accurate timekeeping, and ensuring team members are trained and qualified and performing duties safely
Adheres to all Company policies and standard operating procedures regarding product quality, food safety, and workplace safety
Collaborates with operations and other support departments to ensure seamless integration of mechanical engineering activities into the overall production process
Qualification
Required
High School or GED
At minimum two years rendering or maintenance experience
Strong communication skills including the ability to communicate with team members at all levels within the organization and regulatory agencies
Preferred
Bachelor's or associate's degree in an engineering or related field and/or two or more years of supervisory experience with protein, rendering or similar processing facility preferred
Bi-lingual preferred but not required
Computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Outlook, Word)
