Equipment Operator III - Water Distribution

NEOGOV is seeking an Equipment Operator III for the City of Casper's Public Services Department. This role involves advanced operation of heavy equipment for construction and maintenance tasks, leading and training staff, and performing maintenance on water distribution systems.

Responsibilities

Performs advanced and complex driving and operation of heavy equipment, with greater independence, including backhoes, bulldozers, motor graders, compactors, scrapers, excavators and front-end loaders for a variety of construction and maintenance operations involving streets, drainage systems, sidewalks, water and sewer systems, or landfill operations
Performs basic trouble shooting techniques and minor repairs on equipment; reports the need for major repairs; checks and adjusts fluid levels; greases and lubricates parts as required; cleans and cares for tools and equipment
Identifies equipment needs for each assigned project; monitors and maintains materials, supplies, and equipment and requisition replacement items
Leads and trains less experienced staff
Repairs, maintains, and installs water mains, water services, and sewer mains; conducts scheduled water distribution booster station and water storage tank visits to perform a wide variety of operation and maintenance duties (when assigned to the Water Distribution Division)
Periodically serves standby duty and/or must respond after hours and on weekends to emergencies
Represents the City of Casper by responding to the public, citizens, its employees, and others in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner while continuously maintaining a positive customer service demeanor
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level

Required

High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
Must be at least 18 years of age
A minimum of four years of experience performing maintenance work involving the operation of light to heavy equipment
Possession of a valid Wyoming Class A Commercial Driver's License with applicable endorsements
Possession of, or ability to obtain within one year of hire, a Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality Water Distribution Operator Level II certification
