Staff Data Analyst

As a Staff Data Analyst, you will lead complex analytical efforts to drive decision-making across the organization, influencing metrics and insights that inform financial performance and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

Lead complex, ambiguous analytical initiatives that inform strategic, financial, risk, and operational decisions
Partner with senior stakeholders to define KPIs, success metrics, and analytical frameworks across core banking and BaaS domains
Use dbt models and metrics as primary analytical inputs; contribute to dbt logic through reviews, proposals, and targeted changes in partnership with Analytics Engineering
Build and maintain executive-ready dashboards and analytical views using modern BI and semantic-layer-driven tools (e.g., Sigma, Looker, Omni)
Perform deep-dive analyses using SQL and Databricks notebooks to uncover trends, risks, anomalies, and opportunities
Communicate insights through clear narratives, written analysis, and data visualizations that drive action
Validate analytical integrity by understanding underlying transformation logic and surfacing data quality or definition gaps
Collaborate with Analytics Engineering on metric definitions, grains, semantic layer usability, and analytical ergonomics
Actively participate in Git-based workflows, including branching, pull requests, code reviews, and collaboration across analytics and dbt repositories
Mentor other analysts through analysis reviews, question framing, and storytelling best practices (without direct people management)
Support regulatory, audit, and compliance efforts by producing clear, defensible analytical outputs

Required

7–10+ years of experience in data analysis, analytics, or decision science roles
Expert-level SQL skills and strong comfort working directly with dbt-modeled datasets
Hands-on experience using dbt, including reading, reviewing, and contributing to models and metrics
Experience building analytics and dashboards in modern BI tools such as Sigma, Looker, Omni, or similar platforms
Strong experience using Git for analytics and data workflows, including commits, branches, pull requests, and code reviews
Experience working in Databricks for analytical development (SQL, notebooks, workflows)
Familiarity with CI/CD workflows for analytics or data projects built on Git-based version control
Strong understanding of semantic layers, metric governance, and analytical modeling concepts
Proven ability to lead high-impact analyses that influence executive or cross-functional decisions
Ability to communicate complex analytical findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
Bachelor's degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required

Preferred

Experience operating in regulated or high-compliance environments (banking, fintech, payments, healthcare) preferred
Bonus: Experience with experimentation, forecasting, causal analysis, or risk analytics
Advanced degree is a plus but not required
