Generation Development (Thermal) Engineer/Analyst

They are seeking a Generation Development (Thermal) Engineer/Analyst to assist with the siting, development, and deployment of fossil-fueled power generation resources, including leading project teams, managing contracts, and conducting economic evaluations.

Responsibilities
Leading and/or serving on diverse, enterprise-wide project teams in the evaluation and development of fossil-fueled power generation resources and other strategic initiatives
Negotiation, development, and/or management of contracts
Conducting economic evaluations and business case development using spreadsheet-based financial models
Performing market intelligence efforts (technology development, pricing, commercial viability)
Preparing and presenting project evaluation results and/or project business cases to all levels of enterprise-wide management and peer groups
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, mathematics, business, economics or finance required
Proven analytical, interpersonal, and creative problem-solving skills
Proficiency with standard analytical and business software such as Microsoft Office applications is required
Project management skills are required
Ability to blend financial, engineering and contractual concepts is needed as this position is integral to the development and deployment of generation assets in a manner consistent with Southern Company's capital plan
Demonstrated ability to build consensus and effectively communicate complex topics in verbal and written form
Collaborative, self-starter, and adaptable to changing priorities
Desire for continuous improvement, learning and innovating
Customer-focused
Focused on being a great team member and teammate
The ability to work effectively in a team setting
Preferred
An advanced degree is highly desirable, particularly an MBA
Experience in project development, project management and/or leadership, large capital projects, contract development, contract negotiation and contract management/administration is a plus
Knowledge of fossil-fueled, renewable electric generation, and storage technologies
Experience in one or more of the following areas: financial analysis, production cost modeling, integrated resource planning is beneficial
Professional registrations and/or certifications in applicable areas of project management and engineering are a plus
