Community Services Coordinator - Older Adult Programs

The City of Anaheim Community Services Department is seeking a motivated, energetic, and collaborative Community Services Coordinator to work with and support Anaheim's Older Adult Programs. This role involves managing day-to-day operations, programs, and services for Older Adults, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Maintain effective communication and working relationships with patrons, participants, clients, co-workers, City Department representatives, and outside agencies
Recommend and assist in implementing goals and objectives within assigned area
Respond to public inquiries and requests; investigate complaints and recommend corrective action as necessary
Participate in the selection of staff and volunteers; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement counseling and disciplinary procedures
Plan, prioritize, assign, schedule, supervise, and review the work of assigned part-time staff
Evaluate operations and activities of assigned responsibilities; recommend improvements and modifications; recommend programs and services for implementation; prepare various reports on operations and activities
Participate in program budget preparation and administration, prepare cost estimates for budget recommendations; submit justifications for assigned events and programs; monitor and control expenditures; order and maintain supplies and equipment
Oversight of facility booking and/or program registration including cash handling, deposit, and reconciliation procedures
Maintain activity and progress records, conduct research, and prepare reports; attend staff meetings; attend regional workshops and conferences
Promote safety awareness and ongoing safety inspections of equipment and facilities; monitor follow-up maintenance and repair; instill employee safety practices that prevent injuries to staff and patrons and protect City property from damage
Develop and prepare publicity materials including news releases, flyers, pamphlets, brochures, and presentations; perform public relations work within the community and with community groups pertaining to specific programs, events, and special activities
Coordinate fundraising endeavors; identify both in-kind and monetary program needs, campaign goals, and solicits needs for support
Coordinate special events and projects, sometime in collaboration with multiple outside agencies and/or service providers

Required

Responsible experience in recreation administration, aging services, gerontology, human services, social ecology, public administration, or a related field is required
At least 2 to 3 years of related experience is required
A bachelor's degree in human services, gerontology, humanities, social ecology, public administration, or a related field is required
Possession of a valid California Driver's License by date of appointment
Maintaining current CPR and First Aid certificates

Preferred

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in recreation administration, aging services, gerontology, human services, social ecology, and public administration, or a related field is highly desirable
Candidates with Spanish speaking and writing abilities are highly desirable
