They are seeking a Senior Build Engineer to take ownership of build processes and infrastructure, ensuring reliability, performance, and security for high-traffic SaaS systems. The role involves technical leadership, mentoring, and collaboration with various teams to improve build and platform systems.
Responsibilities
Own the daily build process and publish an up-to-date catalog of curated, hardened container images
Design, maintain, and evolve Docker-based build workflows, tooling, and automation
Operate and improve high-availability build infrastructure supporting frequent releases
Ensure build systems meet reliability, performance, and security expectations at scale
Maintain 95%+ build success rates while continuously improving MTTR for build failures
Help scale infrastructure that supports high-traffic SaaS systems with millions of requests per day
Partner with engineering to ensure build and platform systems meet production SLAs
Participate in incident triage, root-cause analysis, and post-mortems related to build and container issues
Improve observability and diagnostics around build and delivery pipelines
Participate in on-call rotation for build and infrastructure systems (approximately 1 week per quarter)
Support and debug Kubernetes-based environments used in production
Triage container image, deployment, and runtime issues across clusters
Improve reliability, consistency, and security of container images used across environments
Collaborate closely with security and engineering teams on container-first workflows
Optimize container image size, security posture, and runtime performance
Write and maintain automation and internal tooling in Python and Bash
Improve CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins-based) for speed, reliability, and maintainability
Identify and eliminate manual or repetitive operational tasks through automation
Build self-service tooling that empowers engineering teams while maintaining security and reliability standards
Act as a senior technical owner for build and platform systems

Partner with Product, Security, and Engineering leadership to align infrastructure with business needs
Drive technical initiatives from conception through implementation and measurement
Qualification
Required
7+ years in build engineering, DevOps, platform, or infrastructure roles
Demonstrated experience running production SaaS systems at scale, including infrastructure handling 10M+ requests per day, 100K+ concurrent users, or equivalent high-availability environments
Strong Linux systems experience and command-line fluency
Advanced scripting skills in Python and Bash
Deep hands-on experience with Docker, container tooling, and debugging complex build issues
Experience supporting Kubernetes in production (cluster operations, upgrades, debugging, performance tuning)
Strong familiarity with CI/CD systems, including maintaining and extending Jenkins pipelines
Experience with Git-based workflows (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket)
Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, security, and product teams
Ownership mindset and comfort being accountable for critical systems that teams depend on daily
Proven ability to balance velocity with reliability—shipping fast without breaking things
Preferred
Experience operating infrastructure in at least one major cloud provider: AWS, GCP, or Azure (multi-cloud experience is a strong plus)
Experience designing or supporting systems handling millions of hits/requests per day with demonstrated SLA achievement
Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform required; Ansible/Pulumi a plus)
Experience with observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, OpenTelemetry, or similar)
Familiarity with container security, image hardening, vulnerability scanning, or supply-chain security
Prior experience mentoring engineers or acting as a technical lead on platform/infrastructure initiatives
Experience in security-sensitive, regulated, or government-adjacent environments (FedRAMP, STIG, DoD, federal compliance)
Track record of improving system reliability (reducing MTTR, increasing uptime, eliminating toil)
Experience with cost optimization for cloud infrastructure and CI/CD systems
Experience at cloud-native, developer-tooling, or container-security companies
Exposure to DoD, federal, or highly regulated enterprise customers
Background scaling infrastructure at early- to growth-stage startups (Series A through IPO)
Experience improving CI/CD performance, reliability, or cost efficiency at scale
Contributions to open-source infrastructure, build, or container tooling
Experience with multi-region or multi-cloud deployments
Familiarity with compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP)
Experience with GitOps workflows (ArgoCD, Flux) or advanced deployment strategies (blue-green, canary)
