The role involves preparing test specimens, operating laboratory equipment, and supporting engineers in testing methods while ensuring compliance with safety practices.

Responsibilities
Prepare and set up test specimens and fixtures according to test protocols
Operate and maintain laboratory testing equipment (e.g., Universal Testing Machine, thermal chambers, microscopes)
Perform mechanical, and thermal tests following standard operating procedures
Accurately record, organize, and report test data in logs and databases
Assist engineers in developing and refining test methods
Perform routine equipment calibration, troubleshooting, and basic maintenance
Ensure lab safety practices and compliance with EHS policies
Support inventory management of lab supplies, tools, and materials
Qualification
Required
Associate degree, technical diploma or bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science or a related field
Equivalent practical experience may be considered
Hands-on experience with test instrumentation (Instron, MTS, Shimadzu, or similar) is an asset
Basic understanding of measurement tools (force/temperature sensors and microscope)
Familiarity with data acquisition software (Excel, MATLAB, LabVIEW or equivalent)
Strong attention to detail, organization, and record-keeping
Ability to follow written procedures and work instructions
Good communication and teamwork skills
Preferred
Knowledge of ASTM/ISO testing standards
1 3 year experience in a laboratory or testing environment
Basic CAD or test fixture design knowledge
