Engineer (Associate/Senior/Staff)

They are seeking a motivated Electrical Engineer to support the Company’s evolving distribution grid, focusing on the design, modeling, and development of protective relay settings for Distribution and renewable energy interconnections.

Responsibilities
Learn and apply basic protection philosophy and applications to real-world scenarios
Develop protective relay settings for System Protection Engineering (SPE) Distribution protection schemes inside the substation
Under the guidance of experienced team members, provide technical assistance to various engineering and field teams to fully develop the protection and control design package
Provide technical support to conceptual engineering teams, project management teams and ET Field Organization throughout the course of capital projects
Perform other duties as requested or assigned
Continue to learn and apply protection philosophy and application to real-world scenarios
Develop protective relay settings for SPE Distribution protection schemes inside the substation
Provide technical assistance to various engineering and field teams to fully develop the protection and control design package
Provide technical support to conceptual engineering teams, project management teams and ET Field Organization throughout the course of capital projects
Participate in various company teams and industry-level organizations to enhance ET's system protection performance
Participate in trade and industry organizations
Support team with settings peer review activities
Perform other duties as requested or assigned
Continue to learn and provide newer engineers on the team with guidance on applying protection philosophy and application to real-world scenarios
Develop protective relay settings for SPE Distribution protection schemes inside the substation
Provide technical assistance to various engineering and field teams to fully develop the protection and control design package
Provide advanced technical support to conceptual engineering teams, project management teams and ET Field Organization throughout the course of capital projects
Participate in various company teams and industry level organizations to enhance ET's system protection performance
Participate in trade and industry organizations and benchmarking activities
Support team with settingS peer review activities
Provide technical support to newer engineers on the team
Provide support to SPE's Engineer Training program
Perform other duties as requested or assigned
Qualification
Required
Associate Engineer: 0-2 years of engineering experience
Engineer: 2+ years of engineering experience
Sr. Engineer: 5+ years of relevant engineering experience
Staff Engineer: 8+ years of relevant engineering experience
Strong time management skills with the ability to independently plan and organize work assignments
Strong oral and written communication skills, including technical writing
Equally effective with working independently or in a team environment
Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems
Ability to interpret codes, regulations, and practices
Understanding of AC/DC fundamentals, including three-phase power systems
Bachelor's in Engineering
Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or
Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or
Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license
Preferred
Experience with short circuit modeling software preferred
Understanding of IEC 61850 communication protocol for intelligent substation protection is a plus
Experience with SAP work management systems is a plus
Programming skills for automation of system studies (e.g., Python, .NET, C#, etc.) is a plus
Understanding of the principles of transmission and/or distribution relay protection a plus
