Energy Supply Student Internship: Data Analytics and Data Science

Responsibilities
Students will take part in EPRI’s Energy Supply summer student internship program
The summer internship experience provides a technical mentor, training, and social and professional networking opportunities in addition to guided project-focused research work
Other development and social activities in prior years have included: Lunch and learns with past interns, current EPRI employees, Team building activities, for example, a trip to the National Whitewater Center, Tours of local power generation facilities, EPRI lab tours, Final presentations by summer student internship employees to their peers, mentors and other EPRI technical staff
Students may be hired into one of many research programs in the Energy supply (Generation & Nuclear Sectors) to work over the timeframe of May to August
Students who demonstrate exemplary skillsets and learning over this ~12-week period may be asked to work part-time after the summer period and/or be invited in subsequent years to extend their exposure to the Energy Sector
Qualification
Required
Be in their junior or senior year as an undergraduate or in a graduate school as a master's or Ph.D. candidate
Have completed a group engineering design project in data analytics/science or with a data analytics/science component
Have coding capability in python, R, and/or SQL
Be willing to take on challenges and work with functions, codes, and concepts that are outside of the typical knowledge base
Be a thought leader and offer suggestions, ideas, and alternatives, especially around newly exposed techniques and technologies
Be willing to work with other summer student employees to exchange knowledge, answer questions, and learn best practices
Must be willing to ask questions and learn from technical mentors and engineers at EPRI
