Responsibilities

Perform repairs, preventative maintenance, installations, and shop infrastructure work as needed
Assist other technicians and staff as needed. Work may include pick-up and delivery of equipment, field service, shop service/repairs, calibration, and preventative maintenance of refrigerated (and some non-refrigerated) scientific equipment including freezers, refrigerators, lyophilizers, vacuum pumps, and other types of equipment
Provide support for servicing customers’ specialty equipment in shop
May be required to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime and “on-call” as needed
Review work orders including, but not limited to, written work descriptions
Maintain labor and material costing requirements on all jobs
Bring escalated customer issues to the attention of the Area Service Supervisor
Support the goals of the Service department to achieve installation, sales and collection budgets on weekly/monthly basis
Management of personal company issued vehicle maintenance which includes scheduling, upkeep and inventory in conjunction with Corporate Fleet Admin

Required

High School Diploma and three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and internet functions is required; accounting and construction software packages preferred
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Ability to speak effectively to customers, vendors and managers via phone and in person
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions and percentages
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions given in all forms
Ability to solve practical problems
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Ability to interpret and offer solutions to more complex problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
The employee is regularly required to sit, talk and listen; using hands to type
The employee is often required to stand, reach with hands and arms, climb ladders and stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl and walk on concrete surfaces
The employee may occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to ninety (90) pounds
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus

Preferred

Prior supervision experience in scientific or specialized refrigeration, sterilization or HVAC preferred
