*Extra Help* Engineering Aide - Public Works Materials Lab

They are seeking an Engineering Aide to support the Public Works Engineering Division's Material Lab by performing basic office and field engineering support work, including sampling and testing construction materials.

Responsibilities
Sampling and testing construction soils, aggregate base and fill, concrete mix, and other materials
Learns to operate technical engineering office and field equipment
Learns to operate computer-aided drafting equipment; draws layouts and details; prepares maps, charts and graphic work
Assists staff in copying, binding, collating and record keeping
Organizes and maintains records and files; maintains map files
Performs engineering-related computer entry work
Gathers data and assists in traffic studies
May assist on survey crews
Picks up, delivers and stores office and technical supplies and equipment
Prepares basic records and reports of work performed
Learns to operate technical engineering office and field equipment
Assists higher-level engineering staff on project work as assigned
Qualification
Required
Possession of a valid California driver's license
Knowledge of methods, techniques and equipment used in drafting, surveying and related work
Knowledge of basic data entry operation
Knowledge of mathematics, including algebra and trigonometry
Knowledge of office support methods, including the operation of standard office equipment
Skill in performing drafting and graphic work, including preparing neat, precise and accurate drawings and plans
Skill in learning the principles and practices of equipment used in technical engineering support work
Skill in understanding and following written and oral instructions
Skill in learning to read and interpret engineering drawings and maps
Skill in preparing accurate and concise records and reports
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work

Completion of high school or technical school coursework in mechanical drawing, algebra and trigonometry
