Responsibilities
Reprogram/enhance parts of the WINS system in COBOL and CL development languages
Design, plan, and implement new projects as requested by users and upper management
Perform all Database administrator functions for DB2/400
COBOL and CL Development work consists of:
Creating new batch programs and processes
Creating and implementing export processes
Updating Online Programs/processes
Updating existing batch program/processes
Manage/maintain/create automated tasks on Iseries and file servers, including Secure FTP with internal and external entities
Design, plan, and implement data processes to meet the needs of the business from the WINS system
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to keep abreast of changing business needs, and to ensure this ecosystem remains in line with the company's IT objectives and growth plans
Work closely with other team members and support staff to meet user needs
Meet with users and upper management to discuss requests/tickets/problems/complaints and enhancements to the system when necessary
Execute/monitor daily and monthly processing, including all file transfers using IACCESS file transfer
Manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers to ensure cost-effective solutions and optimal service levels
Qualification
Required
Proven experience in Development and Operations on an iSeries/AS400
Ability to upgrade the Iseries OS/400 operating system, Applying PTFs, performing IPL's and Tape library management
Strong knowledge and expertise in programing languages such as COBOL/400, SQL/400, CLP/400 SDA, RLU, PDM, WRKQRY, Sequel, ACOM, Catapult, DFU
Demonstrated expertise in Insurance for Management of the WINS system
Full knowledge of backup and disaster recovery strategies and tools for the iSeries
Strong project management skills, with the ability to plan, execute, and deliver projects accurately and on time
Excellent problem-solving, communication and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and provide effective solutions
Effective written and verbal skills, to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage resources efficiently
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Property and casualty insurance experience
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
