Responsibilities

Operational oversight of group activities; supporting strategic and tactical planning; developing and advocating for programs; promoting effective partnering with other LANL organizations and external partners; overseeing group finances; human resource management; and safety and security management
Partner with the Group Leader, the other Deputy Group Leader, and Team Leaders to provide management and programmatic leadership for the group
Act on behalf of the Group Leader as needed and ensure continuity of operations, people management, and mission delivery

Required

Demonstrated success in oversight, leadership, or management of programs, projects, or personnel
Demonstrated commitment to people-centered leadership, including performance management, coaching, accountability, and fostering an inclusive, respectful, and high-performing work environment
Proven experience recruiting, mentoring, and developing students and staff
Previous experience supporting nuclear weapons customer programs
Demonstrated record of technical achievement in engineering or a related scientific field
Proven history of working collaboratively to create a safe, secure, and compliant operations in moderate hazard environments
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to obtain a DOE Q clearance, HRP certification, and Sigma 15 authorization
Position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and 5 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation

Preferred

Demonstrated experience supporting Weapons Production missions, including engagement with Power Supply Production, Pit Technologies, Detonator Production, or closely related customers
Familiarity with LANL administrative, safety and security policies
Demonstrated experience in building collaborative partnerships across the Nuclear Weapons Programs or Enterprise
Working knowledge of at least one of V-6's NDT Methods (Radiographic Testing, Ultrasonic Testing, Eddy Current Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing, Penetrant Testing)
Experience working and supervising in a moderate hazard facility. Familiarity with work/project execution in a nuclear facility environment
Demonstrated knowledge of LANL weapon systems, sub-systems, and components
Active DOE Q Clearance, HRP Certification, and Sigma 15
A Master's or PhD STEM degree from an ABET accredited institution is preferred
