Responsibilities
Identify and originate new BESS and C&I solar opportunities through research, outbound prospecting, and relationship-building
Conduct preliminary site screening and high-level feasibility analysis (zoning, environmental, grid, community factors)
Evaluate land-use regulations, environmental constraints, permitting pathways, and local political/community sentiment
Review and interpret utility hosting capacity maps and interconnection data across PJM and NYISO territories
Execute outbound landowner outreach (cold calling, mailers, email campaigns, in-person meetings)
Conduct frequent site visits and client meetings across New Jersey and New York
Coordinate with engineering, environmental, and legal teams during early-stage diligence
Support site control efforts, including LOIs, leases, and purchase agreements
Prepare concise internal site screening memos and development pipeline updates
Maintain accurate CRM tracking and reporting of all origination activities
Qualification
Required
2–4 years of experience in renewable energy development (solar and/or BESS), land development, real estate, or a closely related field
Direct experience with site origination and/or early-stage site evaluation
Working knowledge of: Local zoning and land-use processes
Working knowledge of: Environmental constraints (wetlands, flood zones, brownfield/contaminated sites)
Working knowledge of: Permitting pathways in NJ and/or NY
Working knowledge of: Utility hosting capacity maps and basic interconnection principles
Experience conducting outbound prospecting and engaging landowners
Willingness and ability to travel frequently within NJ and NY
Valid driver's license and comfort visiting rural, suburban, and industrial sites
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple active opportunities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in Excel and CRM/development tracking tools
