Surge Support - Technical Support Specialists

DAWSON is seeking Surge Support Technical Support Specialists to assist with the Department of Homeland Security’s Mobile Detection Deployment Program. This part-time position involves supporting CBRN detection operations and maintaining equipment while being available for surge deployments as needed.

Responsibilities

Conduct and support CBRN detection operations in conjunction with program stakeholders in post-deployment communications
Conduct CBRN detection operations
Manage and maintain file system for regional documentation to include record keeping, following file standards and protocols, and maintaining both electronic and paper files
Responsible for maintaining their equipment, tactics, techniques, and procedure standards by completing all training, including refresher training, in accordance with MDDP policies
Supports fleet management by documenting, tracking, submitting, and filing all necessary fleet vehicle information in accordance with MDDP, CWMD, and DHS policies
Adheres to professional standards and codes of conduct set forth by MDDP, CWMD, and DHS including dress code, all forms of communication standards, social media regulations, and other policies as required
Presents clear, concise, and accurate information on the Mobile Detection Deployment Program and its capabilities to a variety of stakeholders and group sizes
Supports training on and answers questions on policies, procedures, protocols, and equipment of the program to a variety of stakeholders and group sizes unless otherwise directed
Submit Travel Approvals within 48hrs after members receive an Operations Order (OPORD) unless otherwise directed
Provides support for Situation Reports (SITREPs)
Provides input for After Action Reports (AARs)
Supports operational duties and activities based on request from FPM, and COR to support MDDP operational aspects as requested on a temporary duty status
Responsible for maintaining equipment, tactics, techniques, and procedure standards
Adheres to professional standards and codes of conduct set forth by MDDP, CWMD, and DHS including dress code, all forms of communication standards, social media regulations, and other policies as required
Conduct technical chemical, radiological and nuclear reach back on all requested deployments to demonstrate proficiency
Equipment experience shall include the use of primary and secondary screening devices, spectroscopic devices, and chemical identification equipment utilizing FTIR and Raman technologies

Have a Commercial Driver's License Class B (CDL B) or ability to obtain within 3 months following contract award
5+ years CBRN experience in participating and assisting with operational planning and supporting the coordination of detection and preventative activities with a minimum 5 years of hands-on equipment experience. Equipment experience shall include the use of primary and secondary screening devices and shall include spectroscopic devices, and chemical identification equipment utilizing FTIR and Raman technologies
Be able to read, write, and speak English fluently
Demonstrate excellent leadership qualities, public speaking and presentation skills, verbal and writing skills will be of an excellent aptitude when producing documents and providing presentations
Basic NIMS and ICS certifications (i.e. ICS 100 and ICS 200)
At least one basic radiation fundamental training program certification
Primary and secondary screening preventative certifications
Demonstrate excellent decision making and critical thinking skills
Able to operate in a high-paced environment with deadlines
5 years of relevant experience in R/N detection training and supporting preventive R/N detection mission operations at special events or during steady state operations where R/N detection is regularly employed. Event support can also include but not limited to demonstrations, training, and exercises at Department of Homeland Security Special Event Assessment Rated (SEAR) Events or National Security Special Events (NSSE)
Knowledgeable in using the following types of representative R/N detection equipment: Personal Radiation Detectors (PRD) (Spectroscopic/Non-Spectroscopic) (examples may include: D-tect Systems Mini Rad-D, Thermo RadEye, FLIR IdentiFINDER R300 nanoRaider, and Kromek D3S); Human Portable Radiation Detection Backpacks (examples may include: Thermo PackEye, and Bubble Technology Industries FlexSpec); Radiological Isotope Identification Devices (RIIDs) (High-Res/Low-Res) (examples may include: FLIR IdentiFINDER R400 and ORTEC Detective DX); Mobile Radiation Detection System such as Radiation Solutions Inc. RSI-701; Auxiliary Equipment: Radios, Radioactive Material Sources
Able to perform minor maintenance/upkeep to include battery replacement or adjusting settings, as well as able to complete multi-step troubleshooting efforts that may require interactions with vendor
Active SECRET level clearance or eligible to qualify for clearance
