Responsibilities

Supports project team in development of design documentation, plans and reports for relevant project design elements
Assists in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats
Prepares and revises first draft of documentation in various project phases including site plans, floor plans, diagrams, and details
Assists with the development of technical equipment specifications required for a project
Attends project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants
Perform basic calculations using standard company and manufacturer software
Work as a contributing team member within a multi-discipline team to ensure compatibility with design intent
Understand and work within Stantec's quality control guidelines
Become familiar with codes and standards (both legislated and customer-specific)
Become familiar with design basis memorandum (DBM)
Become familiar with Process Simulation through commercial software (Hysys, ProMax, etc)
Prepare draft PFD (Process flow Diagrams)
Prepare draft P&ID's (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams)
Become familiar with calculations to specify equipment, i.e., Pumps, Compressors, Separators, scrubbers, Heat Exchangers, tanks, etc
Perform initial Hydraulic Calculations, through commercial software (AFT Fathom, PipeFlo, etc)

Required

Enrollment in an engineering discipline: i.e. Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
Strong technical proficiency
Sound interpersonal, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Proven initiative, flexibility, and adaptability
Working knowledge of MS Office products (Excel, Word, Power point, etc.)
Strong desire to learn and work in a team environment
Mechanical or Chemical Engineering student focus with a minimum completion of 2nd year of an undergraduate engineering degree program

Preferred

Related experience in the renewal energy industry will be considered an asset
