Information Technology Specialist (SYSADMIN)

Responsibilities

Installing, administering, and supporting server and workstation-based applications
Developing, modifying, and testing overall system backup and recovery strategies to ensure readiness and security of classified and unclassified systems
Implementing system software changes, operating system releases and patches to maintain operational status of systems and continuously improve cyber posture
Configuring a wide variety of devices and drivers to ensure compliance and hardening with standards and information security guidelines
Reviewing proposed policy, regulations, and procedural changes to determine impact for various users or workgroups

Required

You must be a U.S. citizen to apply for this position
You must successfully pass a background investigation
Selective Service registration required
Current federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements
You must be able to obtain and maintain a Government credit card
You must be able to deploy with little or no advance notice to anywhere in the United States and its territories for an extended period of time
Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service
To qualify for this position at the GS-12 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal government
Experience may be obtained in the federal government, a state or local government, or private sector, and must demonstrate the following: Planning, scheduling, and performing installations of new or modified hardware, operating systems, applications software, and information security tools AND, Managing customer accounts, network rights and administration access to computer systems and equipment AND, Administering, patching, and hardening of system platforms (i.e., Microsoft Windows) OR, Creating or using scripting languages to automate or correct processes
In addition to the minimum qualifications described above, you must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, Problem Solving
