Platform HW Competitive Analysis Engineer
Cynet Systems is a company focused on technology solutions, and they are seeking a Platform HW Competitive Analysis Engineer to analyze competitor hardware platforms and support competitive benchmarking. Responsibilities
Analyze CPU, APU, and GPU printed circuit boards from various vendors and systems, including notebooks, PC motherboards, and GPU cards
Identify electrical components and apply reverse engineering techniques to understand board topology, architecture, power trees, and key interfaces
Collaborate with component engineers to create estimated BOM files and identify components with unclear specifications
Utilize internal cost databases to estimate board costs and compare against internal and customer designs
Work with PCB delamination vendors to perform stack-up analysis
Identify high-speed interfaces and dielectric materials used in competitor designs
Analyze vias, pad stacks, and trace geometries to determine competitor chip ball-out for key interfaces
Conduct power instrumentation on hardware platforms using standardized benchmarks to measure system efficiency
Measure incoming and output power across multiple ASIC power rails
Prepare detailed reports highlighting cost differences and key design or architectural features impacting cost
Provide recommendations to influence future competitive platform designs
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronic Engineering
Three to five years of experience in platform hardware design or analysis
Strong understanding of complex PCB and system-level hardware designs
High-speed digital interfaces including LPDDR, GDDR, PCIe, USB, DisplayPort, eDP, HDMI, SPI, and eSPI
PCB analysis and reverse engineering
BOM estimation and cost analysis
Power measurement and system efficiency benchmarking
Technical documentation and reporting
Experience working with complex PCB and system assemblies, including FFC and custom cable interfaces
Experience collaborating with silicon vendors and component suppliers for cost-effective design solutions
Familiarity with PCB BOM cost optimization through design simplification while maintaining performance and reliability
Preferred
Prior experience in competitive BOM analysis
Experience benchmarking power, efficiency, and performance across hardware platforms
