Engineer I-III Transportation Engineer

The State of Delaware's Division of Transportation Solutions is dedicated to providing excellence in transportation infrastructure. The Engineer I-III position focuses on developing professional engineering capabilities through tasks related to road design, including drafting engineering designs, conducting field studies, and developing cost estimates.

Responsibilities

Drafts, develops and modifies engineering designs, plans and specifications
Reviews permit applications, blueprints and/or designs prepared by others to ensure compliance with specifications and regulations
Applies the principles and theories of science and mathematics to research and develop solutions to technical problems
Plans and conducts field studies, surveys, research and development projects, inspections and/or investigations to collect data and ensure conformance to state/federal laws and regulations
Tests or evaluates materials, equipment, systems and facilities
Plans and coordinates engineering projects
Reviews, analyzes and reports on the status of projects and/or regulatory conformance
Develops cost estimates for project time and materials
Provides technical guidance and training to technical staff

Required

Possession of a Bachelor's degree or higher (or have an anticipated graduation date within 12 months) in one or more of the discipline(s) of engineering shown below OR official notice of passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination administered by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) in one or more of the discipline(s) of engineering shown below
Chemical Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Civil Engineering
Construction Engineering
Environmental Engineering
Industrial Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Agricultural Engineering
Material Science Engineering
At least one year experience in one or more of the discipline(s) of engineering shown below OR possession of a Masters degree or higher in one or more of the discipline(s) of engineering shown below
At least four years experience in one or more of the discipline(s) of engineering shown below
Knowledge of engineering project management which includes planning, scheduling, staffing, coordinating, controlling, monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the status of engineering projects
