Intern, R&D Graduate Year Round - CMOS Tech & Future Products, Hybrid

The intern will assist in developing novel computing hardware and demonstrating workloads on this hardware, focusing on analog in-memory computing and microelectronic devices.

Responsibilities

Characterize, model, or improve microelectronic devices
Design and simulate analog computing circuits
Model the effect of microelectronic device properties on algorithm accuracy for various workloads such as classification, regression or time-series prediction, and improve the performance of systems on these workloads using co-design
Testing, analyzing, or modeling radiation effects on microelectronic devices and/or systems
Conduct innovative research, publish and present results in refereed journals and conferences
Develop and pursue new opportunities in areas that support Sandia Mission activities
Work in multidisciplinary teams consisting of electrical engineers, computer scientists, physicists, materials scientists, and mathematicians

Required

Earned bachelor's degree
Currently attending and enrolled full time in the spring term immediately preceding the internship (or scheduled to graduate in the spring) in an accredited science, engineering, or math graduate program
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer
U.S. citizens, legal permanent residents, asylees or refugees in the U.S

Preferred

Major in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or other related technical field
Expertise in modelling devices, circuits, or in-memory computing architectures
Expertise in electrical characterization of electronic devices
Proficiency with programming languages such as Python or C+
Experience developing and delivering new software/simulation tools
A record of publication and innovation, as evidenced by peer-reviewed journal articles, conference proceedings, technical books or issued patents
