Responsibilities

Serves as an advisor to top level Bureau management such as the Assistant Director (Field Operations), Division Chiefs, field Special Agents in Charge (SAC's), on all policy issues and technical matters within his/her area of responsibility
Performs complex, in-depth studies and/or directs and coordinates task forces or working groups on significant law enforcement issues which impact on functions and programs of national significance
Provides technical assistance to Bureau managers and supervisors on major national investigations involving violations of Federal laws under ATF jurisdiction
Reviews, evaluates, and recommends improvements to major law enforcement program and mission areas
Provides leadership and guidance to Headquarters and field managers on the impact and implementation of new developments, trends, technology, and other matters affecting the assigned functional area, project, or program

Required

Must be U.S. Citizen or National
Selective Service registration is required for males born on, or after, December 31st 1959. Those not registered should have an approved exemption on file
You must be a current permanent Department of Justice employee with competitive status or a CTAP/RPL eligible candidate
Pass drug screening and subject to random drug test
Suitable for Federal employment determined by background investigation
You must meet all applicable time-in-grade requirements by the closing of this announcement
Financial Disclosure: If selected, you may be required to disclose financial information in accordance with DOJ and Federal ethics guidelines
To qualify for this position at the GS-14 grade level, candidates must also have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-13) by the closing date of this announcement
Specialized experience is demonstrated experience, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. Experience must be in the normal line of progression or must be related to the work of the position advertised and must be reflected in resume
Specialized experience must include all of: Create and manage policies and/or guidance; AND; Provide leadership to others such as workgroups, teams or special projects; AND; Communicate orally and in writing (i.e. reports and briefings)
