Responsibilities
Prepare for and operate an ultrasound scanning unit following specific IAC standards, departmental protocol and physician orders
Produce detailed imaging of patients anatomy for diagnostic information
Assist patients onto a stretcher, verify patient identification prior to ultrasound scan, select patient from work-list, ensure exam is archived on the PACS and completed in ITS
Maintain facilities in proper order
Keep abreast of all new vascular technology
Perform a variety of diagnostic ultrasound examinations on patients arterial, venous, cerebrovascular circulation using specialized ultrasound equipment to detect stenosis, obstructions, thrombus, aneurysms, pseudoaneurysms, AV malformations, venous valvular incompetence, vasospastic disease or occlusions in the peripheral vascular and cerebrovascular systems
Qualification
Required
Completion from an accredited vascular ultrasound program and RVT or CCI registered
CPR certification thru the American Heart Association required
Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), Registered Vascular Specialist (CCI) or (1) year vascular sonography work experience in a clinical setting
Physical dexterity to operate sensitive equipment and to be able to perform a variety of Ultrasound exams on patients
Position's physical requirements necessitate a full range of body motion including but not limited to, physically assisting patients, requiring stretching, bending, lifting, sitting, kneeling, stooping, standing, walking, pushing and pulling
Manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination are also required as is constant talking, writing and listening in English
Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and vascular systems
Effective excellent interpersonal interaction and communication (oral, writing written, presentation presenting) skills
Ability to perform tasks accurately and with attention to detail, changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure
Ability to function independently and competently in stressful situations
Responds positively to changes in the work environment and has ability to work well in various settings, adjusting according to patient needs
Ability to work cooperatively within the health-system, and with patients, family members, co-workers, and multidisciplinary team members (i.e., physicians, Patient Care Services staff members, etc.)
Ability to utilize effective time management to set priorities, perform job related responsibilities, and respond quickly to emergency situations
Ability to use analytical and critical thinking skills to effectively problem-solve
