Engineering Manager
Integer Technologies is an applied research and product development company focused on national security. Responsibilities
Serve as Principal Investigator (PI) for ocean soundscape research programs in partnership with the University of New Hampshire and other academic collaborators
Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams using hands on systems engineering experience to develop new tools that monitor, assess, and enhance distributed maritime operations through an understanding of the ocean soundscape in real time
Oversee the development of modeling and simulation frameworks that enable virtual demonstration, evaluation, and refinement of new capabilities prior to transition onto physical systems
Contribute directly to technical deliverables for industry-academia research projects focused on the operationalization of ocean soundscapes
Analyze and integrate multisource data within battle management and decision support frameworks for unmanned and autonomous platforms to understand soundscape impacts on higher level mission outcomes
Conduct research with partners across multiple maritime domains leveraging models, simulations, and operational data to advance autonomous systems performance
Interface with university partners to translate academic research into Navy relevant tools, prototypes, and methods that align with mission needs and operational constraints
Provide domain expertise in distributed systems, ocean soundscapes, systems engineering, technical analysis, software development, and product development to guide research direction and solution design
Mentor engineers and researchers, promoting best practices, modern toolsets, and state-of-the-art methodologies in ocean soundscape data collection and processing, autonomy, and systems engineering
Manage program deliverables and timelines for federal customers, ensuring milestone completion, priority alignment, and high-quality technical output across multiple concurrent programs
Collaborate closely with federal sponsors to understand mission objectives, capability gaps, and success criteria, ensuring research outcomes directly support customer needs
Translate research findings into proposals and white papers that pursue new opportunities and expand Integer’s portfolio of undersea and maritime autonomy research programs
Qualification
Required
Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Secret Clearance
Masters' degree in relevant field (e.g., oceanography, marine science, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or other related field) and 5+ years of experience relevant to the primary responsibilities outlined above
Ability to work onsite at Integer's office in Durham, New Hampshire, at least three days a week in accordance with Integer's hybrid work policy
Experience with the research-grade modeling and simulation (M&S) tools, including the development and use of M&S tools for assessment of novel technology
Knowledge of topics related to unmanned and autonomous platforms such as intelligent control and decision making, battlefield management, multi-agent collaboration, and/or autonomous and unmanned systems
Understanding of the basic principles of marine acoustics
Experience with numerical methods and scientific software development in general purpose programming languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB)
Excellent written and oral communication skills and technical leadership. Must have the ability to lead cross domain teams in new research areas
Understanding of the Navy and Department of War's mission, problem set, and strategy for the integration of autonomous systems
Ability to travel up to approximately 15% of time. This travel includes, but is not limited to, meetings with government customers, technical conferences, industry days, and off-site test events
Preferred
Graduate certificate in Acoustics and/or equivalent demonstrated advanced understanding of marine acoustics via education, work experience, or combination thereof
Ph.D. in relevant field (e.g., oceanography, marine science, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or other related field)
Experience with unmanned and autonomous systems research involving maritime autonomous systems such as uncrewed surface vessels and uncrewed underwater vessels
Experience with the application of artificial intelligence to intelligent control and decision making of autonomous systems
Experience with digital prototyping and simulation of collaborative autonomous systems in digital environments
