Responsibilities

Supervising and guiding direct care staff in the absence of the Health Care Supervisor I (DS I)
Ensuring the physical and emotional well-being of assigned individuals
Supporting the implementation of their habilitation and training plans
Assisting with personal care, daily living skills, socialization, leisure activities, and maintaining safety
Helping in classroom and training settings
Providing transportation to appointments and activities
Shopping with or for individuals as needed
Administering emergency care for incidents such as seizures or accidents
Performing specified housekeeping tasks
Maintaining accurate records and documentation

Required

High school or General Educational Development diploma and one year of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Must be in good standing with the NC Health Care Personnel Registry
Must successfully complete training through the Staff Development department which includes, but is not limited to NCI (North Carolina Intervention), CPR, Body Mechanics and lifting
Physical ability to frequently lift and bend

Preferred

Understanding of approved behavioral intervention programs, medication administration protocols, and the specific needs of the population served
Ability to clearly document client progress and behaviors, and effectively communicate with families and team members
Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with individuals, families, and professional staff while maintaining a professional and even-tempered demeanor
Capable of independently following up on services to ensure client needs are met, while also collaborating effectively as part of a team
Have a Valid Driver's License
