2026 Summer College Internship Program – City Council

The City of Atlanta Department of Watershed Management is seeking summer interns to perform various administrative and project duties within the municipal government. Interns will gain experience and knowledge while working under direct supervision, engaging in tasks such as compiling reports, preparing correspondence, and attending meetings.

Responsibilities

Performs various and diverse administrative, clerical, and/or project duties
Collects information/data
Compiles and prepares reports
Prepares and/or generates routine correspondence, letters, memoranda, forms, and other documents via computer
May prepare presentations for staff members
Responds to routine requests for information or assistance from officials, members of the staff, or other individuals
Attends project, neighborhood and/or team meetings
May organize electronic filing systems, communicate with various business partners, and perform other clerical duties in addition to administrative/project assignments
Engages in on-the-job training on operational policies and work procedures to attain the necessary talents which allow the incumbent to contribute to the work being produced by the organizational unit to which assigned
Follows standardized procedures and written instructions to accomplish assigned tasks
May perform other duties as assigned

Required

Pursuing a career school certification and/or associate, bachelor, master, or higher degree in an appropriate discipline for the department in which person is an intern (equivalent professional experience may be considered for substitution for the required degree on an exception basis)
Good Microsoft Office skills
Good planning, organizational and presentation skills
Good verbal and written skills
Ability to quickly assimilate new information into a work process to achieve the desired objective outcome
Ability to independently collect information needed and transpose into finished product
