Senior Scientist – LNP Formulation
Thermo Fisher Scientific is a leading global contract research organization dedicated to enabling customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. The Senior Scientist – LNP Formulation will manufacture and analyze LNP formulations while supporting optimization and troubleshooting processes to enhance drug development.
Research
Responsibilities
Manufacture small and large scale LNP formulations including production, purification and analysis of LNPs using industry standard protocols
Meet established deadlines
Maintain clear and complete ELN-based experimental records
Take part in troubleshooting arise during protocol execution and identify opportunities for protocol and/or process improvement
Support LNP optimization and formulation processes development such as mixing rate and purification conditions to improve yields and scalability of formulation
Troubleshoot low-yield processes and compositions to achieve formulation targets (i.e., composition design to enable specific delivery outcomes)
Follow SOPs to generate and maintain thorough and accurate documentation
Proven ability to adapt to strategic changes in a dynamic and fast-paced drug development environment
Willingness to learn new techniques and expand technical capabilities
Ability to work collaboratively within a team
Qualification
Required
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check, which includes a drug screening
Bachelor's degree in lab sciences such as Chemistry, Biochemistry, Material Science, Immunology, Biology, Molecular Biology or similar
Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 2+ years')
OR Masters degree
Extensive hands-on experience in various LNP formation mixing technologies, including but not limited to various microfluidic mixing and Impingement Jet Mixing devices
Ample hands-on experience and knowledge on LNP purification techniques including TFF
Proficiency in assembling and operating various mixer and TFF systems
Deep hands-on experience in LNP process development experiments focused on maintaining product quality
Experience on LNP formulation manufacturing for non-human primate studies
Complete knowledge and experience on various LNP analytics including Size, PDI, RNA encapsulation, Osmolality, and Endotoxin measurement
Exemplary work ethic and commitment to scientific rigor
Strong communication skills
Able to communicate, receive, and understand information and ideas with diverse groups of people in a comprehensible and reasonable manner
Able to work upright and stationary and/or standing for typical working hours
Able to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds
Able to work in non-traditional work environments
Able to use and learn standard office equipment and technology with proficiency
May have exposure to potentially hazardous elements, including infectious agents, typically found in healthcare or laboratory environments
Able to perform successfully under pressure while prioritizing and handling multiple projects or activities
