Chore-Time Engineering Lab Technician

Responsibilities
The job requires 8-hour shifts and some flexible overtime hours to meet demand
Ability to perform set-up of equipment and operation with limited supervision (hydraulic brake press, mill, lathe, water jet, strippet, etc.)
Ability to work with engineers on the total lab function, including safety
Ability to work with engineering concepts and drawings to physically develop a new product design
Ability to work with limited supervision
Good communication / customer relation skills with vendors and customers
Ability to perform required tests and record data on prototypes
Job requires doing own material handling at times
Must have a good understanding of materials available when building prototypes (steel, plastic, wood, purchased items)
Ability to use various hand tools, power tools, meters, measuring equipment, etc
Ability to use computer software (Labview, Excel, 3D Printer)
Maintain a clean and orderly work area (6S duties)
Ability to perform weekly preventative maintenance
Willingness to work in other production areas as needed
Other marginal duties as assigned
Must be able to perform all physical requirements
Some travel is required within the US to test prototypes at job sites
Qualification
Required
High school degree, GED, or equivalent work experience
Ability to perform set-up of equipment and operation with limited supervision (hydraulic brake press, mill, lathe, water jet, strippet, etc.)

Ability to work with engineering concepts and drawings to physically develop a new product design
Ability to work with limited supervision

Must be able to carry out detailed written or oral instruction
Ability to sit and operate a motor vehicle as needed for travel in the role
Ability to stand for up to 4-8 hours in one session
Ability to communicate with others via phone, in-person, and computer on-going
Ability to listen to customers, problem-solve, and respond accordingly
Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, squat, twist, push, pull, stoop, crouch, and carry items frequently
Lifting up to 50 lbs. sporadically
Preferred
Prior factory or engineering prototype experience preferred
