This role is responsible for designing, calculating, implementing, and validating relay settings to ensure the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of electrical power systems.

Responsibilities
Develop, calculate, and document protective relay settings for transmission, distribution, and/or industrial power systems
Perform short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies to support relay settings and system protection
Configure and test protective relays (e.g., SEL, GE, Schweitzer, ABB, Siemens)
Review one-line diagrams, schematics, and protection philosophies to ensure proper protection schemes
Support relay testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting, including field support when required
Ensure compliance with applicable IEEE, NERC, NEC, and utility standards
Prepare detailed settings files, calculation packages, and technical reports
Collaborate with project managers, protection engineers, and field technicians to meet project schedules
Support client reviews, audits, and technical discussions related to protection systems
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
3+ years of experience focused on relay settings and power system protection
Strong understanding of protective relaying principles, including: Overcurrent, differential, distance, and directional protection
Transformer, feeder, generator, and motor protection
Experience performing power system studies (short circuit, coordination, arc flash)
Proficiency with relay settings and analysis software (e.g., ASPEN, SKM, ETAP, EasyPower)
