EMS Applications Engineer
Mindlance is seeking an EMS Applications Engineer to provide technical support for their Energy Management Systems applications portfolio. This role involves design, development, testing, validation, and production support of EMS and Market applications, while also offering 24/7 on-call support and mentoring junior team members.
Responsibilities
Support, maintain, and troubleshoot EMS and RTN applications (State Estimator, Contingency Analysis, Load Flow, LFC, OTS, etc.)
Participate in EMS/Market system design, testing, validation, upgrades, and enhancements
Provide 24/7 on-call production support and resolve system/application issues
Perform model load testing and update real-time model data
Coordinate application testing with Market Participants
Support system upgrades, infrastructure changes, DR drills, and site failovers
Work with database and infrastructure teams to resolve complex issues
Act as an EMS/OTS Subject Matter Expert and mentor junior team members
Qualification
Required
Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience beyond degree requirements
Bachelor's Degree (Required)
Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
Strong understanding of power system applications and EMS software tools
Expertise in database tools, spreadsheets, and power system analysis applications
Ability to work independently on complex issues requiring in-depth analysis
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Knowledge of industry best practices and emerging trends in power systems and energy markets
Preferred
Master's Degree (Preferred)
Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
