Electrical Controls Programmer
JK Consulting is seeking an Electrical Controls Programmer to support and improve automated production systems in a Food & Beverage manufacturing environment. The role involves programming, troubleshooting, and optimizing PLC-based control systems to ensure high availability of production lines.

Responsibilities
Program, troubleshoot, and support PLC-based control systems
Allen-Bradley (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, MicroLogix)
Schneider Electric (Modicon M340/M580, EcoStruxure)
Develop and modify logic using Ladder, FBD, and Structured Text
Perform online edits and controlled changes in live production
Support HMI systems (FactoryTalk View, Schneider EcoStruxure, or similar)
Troubleshoot and optimize:
Conveyor systems (accumulation, merge/divert, tracking)
Batching and process control (recipes, PID loops, flow/level/temp/weight)
VFDs, MCCs, motors, and instrumentation
Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and control documentation
Support basic industrial networking (Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP; Profinet a plus)
Provide on-call or off-shift support for automation-related issues
Perform root-cause analysis and support equipment upgrades
Qualification
Required

Strong experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs
Working knowledge of Schneider Electric PLC platforms
Experience with VFDs, motor control, and conveyors
Understanding of batching, process, and recipe-based systems
Ability to troubleshoot complex controls issues under production pressure
Basic industrial networking knowledge (IP addressing, Ethernet protocols)
Solid electrical troubleshooting skills
Familiar with LOTO, NFPA 70E, and industrial electrical safety
Comfortable working inside control panels
Understanding of machine safety (E-Stops, interlocks)
Experience working in GMP / FDA / USDA regulated environments
Preferred
Food & Beverage manufacturing experience
Exposure to motion control or servo systems
Experience with alarms, data collection, or SCADA
Knowledge of sanitary design and washdown environments
Background moving from maintenance electrician to controls/automation
