Sr. Environmental Specialist I
BASF is one of the largest chemical companies in North America, and they are seeking a Senior Environmental Specialist to support their environmental compliance activities at the Geismar site. Responsibilities
Leveraging your experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment and your education in a related field, you will support the EHS organization with addressing EHS issues at the Geismar site
Applying your knowledge of environmental regulations, interpretations and regulatory permitting processes will be essential in successful achievement of roles and responsibilities
Your seasoned computer skills (ex. spreadsheets, word processors, database management) will aid you in completing pertinent records, communications and reports. You will also use these skills to work within EHS-related databases to ensure regulatory and BASF compliant records
Collaborating with your EHS peers, other site personnel, and corporate environmental leaders on specific site-wide environmental reporting, you will manage timely completion of environmental water, waste, and EPCRA reports along with guiding site operations on required regulatory compliance requirements
Interface with regulatory personnel for permitting, inspections, and information transfer
Using your excellent presentation and communication skills, you will develop and deliver various environmental topics to site personnel
Collaborating for achievement with your effective communication skills, you will actively participate with operations personnel and the EHS organization at the Geismar site
Qualification
Required
Experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
Education in a related field
Knowledge of environmental regulations, interpretations and regulatory permitting processes
Seasoned computer skills (ex. spreadsheets, word processors, database management)
Ability to manage timely completion of environmental water, waste, and EPCRA reports
Ability to interface with regulatory personnel for permitting, inspections, and information transfer
Excellent presentation and communication skills
Effective communication skills to actively participate with operations personnel and the EHS organization
Preferred
5-10 years of waste disposal management and water (NPDES) compliance and permitting experience a plus
Existing knowledge of chemical manufacturing processes and EHS experience is considered advantageous in this role
