Orange County Superior Court is the third-largest court of general jurisdiction in California, committed to ensuring equal access to court services. They are seeking a Court Technology Intern who will assist in application development and data science, working under supervision to enhance internal business processes and community service delivery.

Responsibilities

Assist in defining and analyzing user requirements and business rules
Translate system requirements into logical system processes; write or modify program source code; draft system and user documentation for review; develop simple applications
Perform maintenance; write and test program codes
Assist in developing and executing test plans
Develop tools and utilities using standard software and development tools
Research and evaluate hardware and software packages

Required

Be currently enrolled at an accredited college or university, with a declared major in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related technical field
Have a college GPA of 3.0 or higher
Attach a copy of your most recent transcript(s) (unofficial copy acceptable)

Preferred

Experience in backend development using Python, .NET, or other OOP (Object Oriented Programming) languages
Experience collaborating on technical projects and tracking work using task or project management tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jira, Trello, GitHub Issues)
Some experience with designing and working with relational databases, including creating tables, defining relationships, and writing SQL queries to retrieve and manipulate data
Some experience with building front-end web applications using one or more of the following: React, NextJS, Angular, Blazor, or similar frameworks
Some experience with Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) using Vector Databases, graph databases, or other techniques
Some experience with containerized applications (e.g. Docker, Podman, Kubernetes)
Some experience with application testing (e.g., unit tests, integration tests)
Some experience working on Cloud development. Preferably Azure

Benefits

The Court will contribute $63.04 per pay period into individual employee Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) accounts for eligible full-time employees ($31.52 per pay period for eligible part-time).
CalPERS Long-Term Care coverage is available to current and former California public employees, retirees, their spouses, parents, parents-in-law, children, siblings (including stepbrothers and stepsisters), grandparents, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law between the ages of 18 and 79 when they apply.
Defined Benefit, fully qualified plan based on the County Employees Retirement Law of 1937 (Government Code Section 31450 et. al.).
Optional deferred compensation 457 & Roth 457 Deferred Contribution Plans are available.

Employees of the Court may be eligible for Federal Student Loan Repayment and Loan Forgiveness Programs.
Available at additional $0.58/hour for selected classes in selected positions.
Available for specific classes at a rate of $1.15/hour in selected positions.
Court offers EAP confidential services to assist employees with marital, family, emotional, legal, financial, and chemical dependency problems.
