Database Content Developer

They are seeking an Associate or Mid-Level Database Content Developer to join their Visual Systems Terrain Environments team, focusing on the development of visual database content for flight simulators. The role involves creating and optimizing visual and sensor content while collaborating with engineering teams to ensure project requirements are met.
Information Technology & Services

Responsibilities

Utilizing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) tools to manipulate and prepare geospatial data for use in visual database content
Creating airfield models, generating terrain meshes from satellite imagery and elevation data, and modeling 3D environments such as terrain, props, buildings, and vehicles
Collaborating closely with engineering teams to establish project requirements and ensure deliverables meet specifications
Troubleshooting and fixing issues related to normals, textures, UV maps, rendering defects, and other model problems
Supporting the development and documentation of processes, tools, and procedures to improve workflow efficiency
Working under general supervision, with opportunities to contribute to innovative projects that impact military training and simulation technology

Required

At least 2+ years of experience with GIS tools and geospatial concepts
Solid background in visual database creation and 3D modeling software
Experience with photo-editing and texturing tools

Preferred

Minimum of an associate's degree or higher in a related field
Familiarity with GIS software such as QGIS or Blue Marble Global Mapper
Familiarity with modeling tools like Autodesk Maya, 3D Max, or Blender
Knowledge of flight simulation terminology
Knowledge of FAA airfield standards
Knowledge of industry-standard data sources such as NGA datasets
