Mainframe Database Administrator
American Unit, Inc is seeking a Mainframe Database Administrator to perform daily database administration and operational support activities. The role involves planning, designing, implementing, and supporting database structures across various platforms, as well as monitoring and tuning database performance to ensure system stability and efficiency.
Responsibilities
Perform daily database administration and operational support activities
Plan, design, implement, and support database structures across DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, and GIS platforms
Monitor and tune database performance to ensure system stability and efficiency
Develop, maintain, and document database administration procedures
Conduct SQL code reviews and ensure best practices are followed
Support database recovery, disaster recovery planning, and infrastructure change management
Assist with training and mentoring technical staff
Participate in additional database or infrastructure activities as needed
Qualification
Required
15+ years of combined database administration experience across:
DB2 for z/OS
Oracle (10g and above)
Microsoft SQL Server (2008 R2, 2012)
Strong experience supporting enterprise and mainframe database environments
Experience with performance monitoring, tuning, upgrades, and recovery
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
Advanced Expertise In:
DB2 for z/OS administration, upgrades, catalog maintenance, and point-in-time recovery
DB2 application integration and performance management
z/OS platform architecture and monitoring tools
JCL, ISPF, COBOL, CA GEN, ASG Scheduler
Strong Working Knowledge Of:
Oracle and SQL Server database administration and performance tuning
RACF, CICS, IOF, AFOPER commands
Disaster Recovery technical requirements
SSMS, SSRS, SSIS
Verification testing and infrastructure change management
Windows Servers and Microsoft Azure
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong customer service and stakeholder engagement abilities
Sound decision-making and problem-solving skills
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and environments
Proven teamwork, leadership, and mentoring capabilities
Commitment to quality assurance and best practices
Preferred
Familiarity with FDOT integrated database infrastructure
Knowledge of FDOT Financial Management applications
Experience working within FDOT's integrated application environment
