Student Information System, Data Manager

Inside Higher Ed is seeking a Student Information Systems Data Manager for the Florida Charter Institute. The role involves overseeing the accuracy and compliance of student data for K–12 charter schools, managing state reporting requirements, and providing technical support and training to staff.

Responsibilities

Monitors and verifies that authorized Florida Charter Institute (FCI) schools accurately maintain and update student records in the Student Information Systems (SIS Focus), including enrollment, withdrawals, schedules, grades, attendance, and demographic data
Provides training, guidance and support to ensure data is entered in compliance with state reporting
Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations (FERPA and FLDOE reporting standards)
Prepares and submits accurate state reports (FTE, Survey periods and accountability reports)
Manages SIS configurations, user roles, and security permissions
Coordinates data transfers, uploads, and downloads between SIS and state systems
Generates and validate reports for district leadership, state agencies, and auditors
Analyzes data for trends, accuracy, and completeness to support decision-making
Provides schools with funding-impact reports (enrollment, recalibration, missing data and impacts)
Provides training and technical assistance to school-based staff on SIS procedures
Develops documentation and guidelines for data entry and reporting
Organizes training support documents provided by FOCUS
Serve as liaison between FCI Authorize Team, schools, and FLDOE for SIS-related matters
Participates in committees and projects related to student data and system improvements, including attendance at annual FOCUS users conference, FAMIS, and other professional learning opportunities as assigned
Performs other duties as assigned

Required

Master's degree in Information Systems, Education, Data Management or related field and three (3) years of related experience in student data management or Student Information Systems (SIS); or Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Education, Data Management or related field and seven (7) years of related experience in student data management or Student Information Systems (SIS)
Knowledge and understanding of the Florida Charter Institute (FCI) and Miami Dade College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
Proficiency in FOCUS SIS
Demonstrates exceptional organizational and detail-oriented abilities
Experience working in large, complex organizations
Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite software and specific computer programs related to area of responsibility
Proficiency in SIS platforms (e.g., PEER, Skyward, PowerSchool) and Microsoft Office Suite
Knowledge of Florida Education Finance Program (FEFP) and FTE reporting
Knowledge and understanding of events planning, logistics, and materials production
Ability to work well under pressure and demonstrate flexibility in a fast paced, dynamic environment
Ability to effectively train and support school staff across the state, giving remote assistance via phone, and video conference
Strong understanding of FLDOE state reporting systems including FTE Surveys 1-5, FASTER, and other FLDOE data reporting systems
Knowledge and understanding of K-12 curriculum structures that impact funding/reporting, including course codes, master scheduling, graduation requirements, reading intervention requirements, ESE services, ELL reporting, dual-enrollment, and CTE program requirements
Excellent organizational and communication skills (both oral and written)
Ability to travel across Miami Dade College campuses and from time to time throughout Florida
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Ability to effectively present information to top management
Ability to work well with students, faculty and staff
