Responsibilities
Consistently execute all aspects of the design process, addressing project complexity while contributing proactively to team success and adhering to firm and project standards of excellence
Coordinate project documentation, including construction plans and details, ensuring quality control and timely completion on small to midscale projects in accordance with MHK standards and checklists
Lead documentation coordination and project team assignments
Coordinate with consultants and address constructability considerations
Develop creative and innovative design concepts as an integral member of the design team
Execute applicable agency review analyses (e.g., DRB, site plan applications, and similar approvals)
Conduct and document field observations to monitor construction progress and quality
Complete project tasks within established schedules and budgets in an organized, timely, and consistent manner
Serve as a primary client contact when requested, coordinating effectively with internal teams, consultants, and contractors
Research products and materials and assist in selection and specification development
Take an active role in preparing client and internal design presentations and supporting materials
Apply advanced understanding of planning, programming, and design principles and methods
Understand and respond to the technical implications of design decisions
Prepare reports and specifications and review plans, cost estimates, and calculations
Perform construction administration tasks, including RFIs, submittals, and change orders
Maintain awareness of evolving building technologies and systems
Take increasing ownership of project responsibilities and studio initiatives
Support and empower junior staff in their professional growth
Manage and mentor staff as assigned
Foster an approachable, collaborative environment with open communication within the team and with studio leadership
Qualification
Required
Professional degree in Architecture
310+ years of professional architectural experience, preferably in residential projects
Experience across all phases of project delivery, from concept through construction administration
Strong knowledge of building codes, specifications, building systems, and engineering coordination
Advanced proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and Lumion
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and solutions-focused
Willingness to mentor and support junior staff
Collaborative, professional, and accountable work ethic
